My Crochet Journey
Crocheting came into my life a little later, during my first year of studies in Bordeaux in 2022. At that time, I was in a new environment, far from home, and it was thanks to a friend that I discovered this yarn craft. She often crocheted during our breaks, and I was intrigued by the precision of her movements and the beauty of the creations she made from a simple ball of yarn. She offered to teach me the basics, and that's how I held my first crochet hook in my hands.
How I started
I remember my beginnings very well: nothing was easy . I struggled to understand the logic of the stitches, my fingers were too stiff, and each row seemed endless. But I persevered because I sensed that behind this difficulty lay a rich and fascinating art. It took me almost two years to truly master crochet, to learn to read the stitches, to play with textures, to invent my own designs. It was a long apprenticeship, sometimes frustrating, but also extremely rewarding.
Today, I'm proud of how far I've come. Crochet, like sewing, allows me to fully express my creativity. I love the slowness of the movement, the precision of the work, the satisfaction of seeing a project take shape, stitch by stitch. These two arts complement each other perfectly: sewing teaches me structure, rigor, and design, while crochet connects me to something more intuitive, almost meditative.
Looking back, I realize that these experiences shaped my perspective on art and creation. They taught me patience, perseverance, and the importance of detail. Today, I can proudly say that I have mastered these two arts, sewing and crochet, and that they are an integral part of who I am. They are much more than hobbies: they are means of expression, forms of balance and freedom. And if I am returning to this path today, it is with the conviction that this is where I feel most at home.
